The main reasons for serious leakage at the slurry pump packing include the following:

1, the packing wear is serious: the packing worn will cause the sealing ability decline, happen  leakage. Please change the packing.

2, the shaft sleeve wear is serious: the shaft sleeve wear will lead to the packing is not tightly sealed, then cause leakage. Please change the shaft sleeve.

3, the flushing water is not clean or insufficient pressure: the flushing water is not clean or insufficient pressure will lead to the packing can not be effectively sealed, Please change the clean sealing water and increase the water pressure.

4, improper selection of packing : if the packing is not resistant for corrosion, not resistant for high pressure or vacuum, not resistant for high temperature or low temperature, it will happen failure of the packing and cause leakage.

5, the packing gland is not tighten: the packing requires a certain pressing force to produce radial deformation to achieve the sealing effect. If the compression force is insufficient, the packing cannot be effectively sealed.

6, the packing is too thin or too hard: the packing is too thin or too hard will affect its sealing effect, the solution is to choose the right material.

The solution:

1. Regularly check and replace the worn packing and bushing to ensure that they are in good condition.

2. Keep the flushing water clean and sufficient pressure to ensure the sealing effect of the packing.

3. Correctly install and adjust the packing gland to ensure that its compression force is moderate.

4. Choose the right filler to avoid the use of filler which is not resistant to medium corrosion or does not adapt to working conditions.

5. Regularly maintain and maintain the pump shaft and sealing water ring to prevent wear or damage.
